4 Kilos

4 Kilos is a renowned wine producer located in the small village of Felanitx, in the heart of the Mallorca region of Spain. This unique producer takes its name from the weight of the first vintage produced, which was four thousand kilograms, or 4 kilos in Spanish. Since its inception in 2006, 4 Kilos has gained a strong reputation for producing high-quality wines that perfectly capture the essence of the region.

The winery is run by winemaker and owner Francesc Grimalt, who has a deep passion for the local grape varieties and terroir of Mallorca. Grimalt's winemaking philosophy is centered around minimal intervention, allowing the grapes to express their natural characteristics and the unique terroir of Mallorca.

The region of Mallorca has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the Roman times. However, it wasn't until the late 20th century that Mallorca began to gain recognition for its quality wines. The island's Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters, creates ideal conditions for grape growing. The sandy soils, combined with limestone and clay, add a distinct minerality and complexity to the wines.

4 Kilos produces a range of wines, including red, white, and rosé. Their flagship wine, the 4 Kilos Red, is a blend of local grape varieties Callet and Mantonegro, with a touch of Syrah. It is a full-bodied yet elegant wine, with notes of red fruits, spices, and a hint of Mediterranean herbs. Another popular wine from the producer is the 4 Kilos 12 Volts, a white wine made from a blend of Prensal Blanc and Chardonnay grapes. This wine is fresh and vibrant, with aromas of citrus and tropical fruits, making it the perfect companion for a hot summer day.

In addition to their own vineyards, 4 Kilos also works with local grape growers to source
