Located in the heart of Saint-Emilion, the prestigious wine region in Bordeaux, France, Château Quinault l'Enclos is a producer that has been making waves in the wine industry for its exceptional quality and unique story.
The vineyards of Château Quinault l'Enclos were first planted in the 12th century, making it one of the oldest estates in Saint-Emilion. However, it wasn't until the late 20th century that the estate gained recognition for its wines. In 1997, the estate was purchased by the renowned winemaker Alain Raynaud, who immediately set out to revitalize the vineyards and elevate the quality of the wines.
Today, Château Quinault l'Enclos is owned by the famous French luxury group, LVMH, and managed by Raynaud and his wife, Francoise. The estate spans over 37 acres and is primarily planted with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The unique terroir of the estate, with its clay-limestone soil and proximity to the Dordogne river, allows for the production of exceptional wines with great complexity and finesse.
Château Quinault l'Enclos is classified as a Grand Cru Classé in the Saint-Emilion appellation, which is known for its exceptional quality and strict production standards. The wines of Château Quinault l'Enclos are crafted using traditional winemaking techniques, with a focus on minimal intervention to allow the true expression of the terroir to shine through. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before undergoing fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels for 18-24 months, adding depth and complexity to the final product.
The result is a range of exceptional wines that have gained high praise from critics and wine enthusiasts alike. The flagship wine of
