Domaine Lafouge

Domaine Lafouge, also labelled Domaine Jean & Gilles Lafouge, is a Burgundy estate based in Auxey-Duresses, a village in the Côte de Beaune. It is a family-named domaine that produces wine from vineyards in and around its home village.

Auxey-Duresses lies in a side valley west of Meursault and Volnay, away from the main slope of the Côte d'Or. The appellation makes both red wine from Pinot Noir and white wine from Chardonnay. The reds are typically medium-bodied, with red-berry fruit and a earthy, savoury edge. They are often more approachable in their youth than those of some better-known neighbours, and they can offer a more modest route into Côte de Beaune Pinot Noir. The village also has Premier Cru climats on its slopes.

The domaine's Auxey-Duresses is made from Pinot Noir, and the 2023 vintage shows the red side of the appellation. As with most Burgundy, vintage and the specific parcels matter, so the character of each year's wine reflects the growing season as much as the village.
