Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC

Bolgheri Sassicaia is a highly esteemed wine producer located in the Bolgheri region of Tuscany, Italy. This iconic producer has gained international recognition for its exceptional quality wines and has played a significant role in establishing Tuscany as one of the world's top wine regions.

The story of Bolgheri Sassicaia dates back to the 1940s when Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, the founder of the estate, started experimenting with Bordeaux-style winemaking techniques on his family's land in Bolgheri. His goal was to create a wine that could rival the great red wines of Bordeaux. After years of dedication and hard work, the first vintage of Sassicaia was released in 1968, and it quickly gained a cult following among wine enthusiasts.

Bolgheri Sassicaia is located on the Tuscan coast, just a few miles from the picturesque town of Bolgheri. The region's unique microclimate, characterized by warm days and cool nights, is ideal for growing grapes, as it allows for a slow and even ripening process. The estate covers over 1,500 acres of land, with around 200 acres dedicated to vineyards that are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Sangiovese grapes.

The Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC appellation was created in 1994, specifically for Bolgheri Sassicaia wines. This appellation recognizes the exceptional quality and unique characteristics of the wines produced by this estate. To be labeled as Bolgheri Sassicaia DOC, the wine must be made from a minimum of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged for at least two years in oak barrels.

Bolgheri Sassicaia produces two wines, Sassicaia and Guidalberto, both of which have received numerous accolades and high ratings from wine critics. Sassicaia is the flagship wine, and it
