Aalto

Aalto is a prestigious wine producer based in the heart of the Ribera del Duero region in Spain. The winery was founded in 1999 by Mariano García, a renowned winemaker with over 30 years of experience in the industry. The name Aalto, which means "wave" in Spanish, is a nod to the rolling hills and valleys of the region, as well as the dynamic and constantly evolving nature of the winery.

The Ribera del Duero region has a long history of winemaking, dating back to the Roman era. It is located in the Castilla y León region of Spain, and is known for its extreme climate and rugged terrain. The high altitude (ranging from 2,500 to 3,000 feet) and harsh winters create a challenging environment for grape growing, but also contribute to the unique character and quality of the wines produced here.

Aalto focuses on producing high-quality, limited production wines that showcase the unique terroir of Ribera del Duero. The winery owns and manages over 110 hectares of vineyards, which are carefully tended to by a team of experienced viticulturists. They primarily work with the native Tempranillo grape, known locally as Tinto Fino, which thrives in the region's extreme climate.

One of the key factors that sets Aalto apart from other wineries in the region is their use of modern technology and techniques combined with traditional winemaking methods. This allows them to create wines that are both powerful and elegant, with a distinct sense of place.
