Château de la Dauphine

Château de la Dauphine

Nestled in the heart of the prestigious Bordeaux wine region, Château de la Dauphine is a renowned producer of exceptional wines. Located on the Right Bank of the Gironde River in the Fronsac appellation, this historic estate has been producing wines since the 18th century and has a long-standing reputation for quality and excellence.

The estate was originally built in the mid-18th century by Jean Baptiste de Richon, a wealthy merchant from Bordeaux. It was later acquired by the Lalanne family in the early 19th century and has been in their hands ever since. Today, the estate is owned by the Labrune family who have continued the tradition of producing exceptional wines while also implementing sustainable and eco-friendly practices in the vineyards.

Château de la Dauphine is situated on 53 hectares of land, with 45 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The vineyards are predominantly planted with Merlot, along with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The unique terroir of the Fronsac appellation, with its clay and limestone soils, combined with the expertise of the winemaking team, result in wines with complexity, depth, and elegance.

The winery produces three different wines, with the flagship wine being the Château de la Dauphine Grand Vin. This wine is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels. It is a well-structured wine with rich aromas of dark fruits, spices, and tobacco, and has a long and smooth finish.

In addition to the Grand Vin, the winery also produces a second wine, Delphis de la Dauphine, and a rosé, Dauphin d'Éon. Both wines are made with the same attention to detail and quality as the flagship wine, and offer a more accessible and affordable option for wine lovers.
