Clos Cibonne

Clos Cibonne is a wine estate based on the Presqu'île de Giens peninsula near Toulon, in the eastern part of Provence. The domaine is one of the older established properties in the Côtes de Provence appellation and has long been associated with the Tibouren grape, a variety that is closely linked to this corner of the French Riviera coastline. The estate produces rosé wines from its own vineyards directly bordering the Mediterranean.

Tibouren is a low-yielding, thin-skinned red variety that is thought to be of local Provençal origin, though its genetic origins remain a subject of some debate. It produces rosé wines with a distinctive character — typically pale in colour, with floral and saline notes, and a structure that can support some aging, which is unusual for Provençal rosé. Clos Cibonne has historically aged its rosés in old barrels under a light veil, a technique that contributes texture and complexity without oxidative heaviness.

The Cuvée Spéciale des Vignettes is among the estate's signature expressions, made predominantly or entirely from Tibouren. It represents a style of Provençal rosé that sits apart from the pale, immediately approachable wines that dominate the regional market — more structured, more textured, and intended to develop in bottle over several years.
