The wine is aged in French oak barrels for 24 months, resulting in a complex and elegant wine with notes of red berries, spices, and a hint of cedar.

Another notable wine from Fontodi is the Super Tuscan "Flaccianello della Pieve." Made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, this wine is aged for 18-22 months in French oak barrels, followed by an additional year of aging in the bottle. The result is a full-bodied and intense wine with flavors of dark fruits, tobacco, and leather.
