Gordon's is one of the oldest continuously produced gins in the world, originating in London in 1769 when Alexander Gordon established his distillery. The brand is now produced in England and remains one of the most widely recognised names in the gin category globally. It is owned by Diageo and is considered a benchmark London Dry Gin.
The original Gordon's London Dry Gin is characterised by a juniper-forward profile with notes of coriander and angelica root, following the conventions of the London Dry style, which requires all flavouring to come from natural botanicals redistilled with the spirit — no artificial additives permitted. The gin is bottled at 37.5% ABV in many markets, though higher-strength expressions exist. Gordon's Pink Gin is a more recent line extension, flavoured with raspberries, strawberries, and redcurrants, and is served slightly sweeter than the classic expression, catering to the contemporary trend for fruit-led gin styles.
The Pink Gin expression draws on a long historical tradition — Gordon's produced a pink gin in the 19th century using Angostura bitters — though the current fruit-flavoured version is a distinct modern product rather than a direct continuation of that original recipe.
