Maverick

Maverick is a wine producer based in the Eden Valley, one of South Australia's most distinctive cool-climate wine regions. Situated in the Barossa Ranges at elevations generally between 400 and 550 metres, Eden Valley sits above and to the east of the Barossa Valley floor, with significantly cooler temperatures that shape the character of its wines.

Eden Valley has a long-established reputation for Riesling, a variety that thrives in its well-drained, low-fertility soils and cool growing season. Rieslings from this appellation typically display high natural acidity, citrus and floral aromatics in youth, and develop distinctive mineral and toasty complexity with bottle age. The region is considered one of Australia's benchmark Riesling appellations alongside Clare Valley.

Maverick's Trial Hill Riesling draws its name from a specific site within Eden Valley, suggesting a focus on single-vineyard or site-specific winemaking. The 2019 vintage represents the kind of cool, age-worthy Riesling for which the appellation is well regarded, with the potential to develop over a decade or more from harvest.
