Veuve Ambal

Veuve Ambal is a sparkling wine producer based in Burgundy, France, specialising in Crémant de Bourgogne. The house has long been one of the more established names associated with this appellation, focusing exclusively on méthode traditionnelle sparkling wines made from Burgundian grape varieties.

Crémant de Bourgogne is produced using the same labour-intensive method as Champagne — secondary fermentation in the bottle — but draws on the indigenous varieties of Burgundy rather than those of the Marne. The appellation covers a broad swathe of the region and permits several grape varieties, with Chardonnay and Aligoté among the most widely used for white and blanc de blancs styles. Aligoté, Burgundy's secondary white grape, brings freshness and bright acidity to sparkling blends, while Chardonnay contributes structure and a rounder texture.

The Signature Brut Blanc in the current range is built on a blend of Aligoté and Chardonnay, representing a classic approach to white Crémant de Bourgogne — dry, with the lively acidity typical of the style. Brut Crémants of this character are often served as an aperitif or alongside lighter first courses, and they occupy a distinct place in French sparkling wine as a regionally grounded alternative to Champagne.
