I loved the perfumed, floral and complex nose of the 2019 Alluvia Parcel Malbec, a showy varietal produced with grapes from selected, head-pruned plots from their Alluvia Vineyard in Gualtallary. It fermented by plot and matured in French barriques, 50% of them new, for 20 months. It's ripe without excess at 14.6% alcohol and has full development of aromas and flavours, with tons of violets, while retaining very good freshness and balance. It comes through as elegant and perfumed, with very fine and elegant tannins.

Tupungato is a wine region located in the Mendoza province of Argentina. The region is known for producing high-quality wines that are rich in flavor and aroma. The history of winemaking in Tupungato dates back to the early 20th century when Italian immigrants first settled in the area and began planting vineyards.

Today, Tupungato is home to some of the most prestigious wineries in Argentina, including Catena Zapata, Salentein, and Andeluna. These wineries are known for their commitment to producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region.

The style of production in Tupungato is heavily influenced by the region's high altitude and cool climate. The vineyards in Tupungato are located at an elevation of over 3,000 feet above sea level, which results in a longer growing season and a slower ripening process. This, in turn, allows the grapes to develop more complex flavors and aromas.

The most common grape varieties grown in Tupungato are Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. Malbec is the most widely planted grape in the region and is known for producing full-bodied, richly flavored wines with notes of blackberry, plum, and chocolate. Cabernet Sauvignon is also popular in Tupungato and is known for producing wines with firm tannins and flavors of blackcurrant and tobacco. Chardonnay is the most widely planted white grape in the region and is known for producing wines with flavors of apple, pear, and citrus.

Overall, Tupungato is a region that is known for producing high-quality wines that are rich in flavor and aroma. The region's unique terroir, high altitude, and cool climate all contribute to the distinctive style of wines produced in Tupungato. Whether you are a fan of red or white wines, Tupungato has something to offer for every palate.
