The Selección de Bodega Malbec is superb, showcasing the best of Malbec from vineyards in Gualtallary at an altitude of 1,350 meters. The plots are harvested based on soil type, then fermented and matured separately in French oak barrels—50% of them new—for 20 months. With 14.5% alcohol, the wine maintains a fine balance of acidity and freshness with a deep violet colour, there are aromas of berries, with graphite, black cherries and spices notes. Despite the extended élevage, it is not overly oaky, as the wood is well-integrated. The result is a serious, elegant, and powerful wine with great balance. It is round on the palate, with fine, chalky tannins.
