Château Trotanoy

Château Trotanoy is a renowned wine producer located in the Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, France. The estate has a long and prestigious history, dating back to the 18th century when it was owned by the Giraud family. Today, it is owned by the Moueix family, who have been managing the estate since 1953.

The region of Pomerol is known for its exceptional terroir, and Château Trotanoy is no exception. The estate sits on a plateau of gravel and clay soil, which is ideal for growing Merlot grapes, the primary varietal used in their wines. The vineyards also benefit from a unique microclimate, with cool breezes from the nearby Dordogne river and warm, sunny afternoons.

Château Trotanoy is known for producing wines of exceptional quality and complexity. Their flagship wine, also called Château Trotanoy, is made from 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc grapes. The grapes are hand-harvested and then carefully sorted before undergoing fermentation in stainless steel vats. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for 18-24 months, resulting in a full-bodied wine with rich flavors of dark fruit, spices, and earthy notes.

In addition to their flagship wine, Château Trotanoy also produces a second wine called La Gravette de Certan. This wine is made from younger vines and is aged for 12-15 months in French oak barrels. While it is not as complex as the flagship wine, La Gravette de Certan still showcases the elegance and quality that Château Trotanoy is known for.

Château Trotanoy has received numerous accolades and high scores from wine critics, solidifying its reputation as one of the top producers in Pomerol. The estate's commitment to quality and tradition, along with their exceptional terroir, have
