One of the most renowned wine producers in the world, Château Margaux has been producing exceptional wines in the Bordeaux region of France for over 400 years. The history of Château Margaux dates back to the 12th century, when the property was owned by the powerful La Mothe family. However, it was not until the 16th century that the estate began producing wine under the ownership of Pierre de Lestonnac. Fast forward to the 18th century, and the estate was purchased by the Marquis de la Colonilla, who gave it the name Château Margaux and initiated its transformation into a world-renowned winery.

Today, the estate is owned by the Mentzelopoulos family, who acquired Château Margaux in 1977 and have since invested in modernizing and expanding the winery while still preserving its rich history and traditions. The estate is currently managed by Corinne Mentzelopoulos, who has continued to uphold the high standards set by previous owners and has solidified Château Margaux's reputation as one of the top wine producers in the world.

Château Margaux is known for its exceptional terroir, with a combination of gravelly soils and a mild maritime climate providing the perfect conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grapes. The estate has a total of 262 hectares of land, with 87 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted, ensuring that only the best fruit makes it into the wine.
