Domaine Labet

Domaine Labet is a renowned wine producer located in the charming village of Rotalier, nestled in the heart of the Jura region in eastern France. The Domaine has a rich history dating back to the 16th century, when it was originally a convent. In 1974, sixth-generation winemaker Alain Labet took over the estate and transformed it into one of the most respected and sought-after producers in the Jura.

The Jura region is known for its unique terroir and traditional winemaking techniques, and Domaine Labet fully embraces these traditions while also incorporating modern practices to create exceptional wines. The estate covers over 33 hectares of land, with a variety of grape varietals including Chardonnay, Savagnin, Pinot Noir, and Trousseau.

One of the most distinctive characteristics of Domaine Labet is their use of the Solera aging system, which involves blending wines from different vintages to create a complex and consistent flavor profile. This method is typically used for sherry production, but Domaine Labet has adapted it for their Jura wines, resulting in truly unique and exceptional blends.

Domaine Labet is best known for their white wines, particularly their Vin Jaunes, made from Savagnin grapes. This wine is aged for at least six years in oak barrels, resulting in a deep golden color and intense flavors of nuts, dried fruits, and spices. It is a true representation of the Jura region and has gained a cult following among wine enthusiasts.

In addition to their Vin Jaunes, Domaine Labet also produces a range of other white and red wines, all with their own distinct character and expression of the Jura terroir. Their wines have received numerous accolades and high ratings from top wine critics, solidifying their reputation as one of the top producers in the region.
