Domaine Ternynck is a family-owned winery located in the heart of the Loire Valley in France. The winery was founded in 1950 by Georges Ternynck and is now run by his son, Jean-Marc Ternynck. With over 60 years of experience, Domaine Ternynck has become one of the most respected producers in the region.
The winery is situated in the small village of Vallet, which is part of the Muscadet Sèvre-et-Maine appellation. This appellation is known for its production of high-quality white wines made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape. The unique terroir of the region, with its mix of clay and limestone soils, combined with the cool climate, creates the perfect conditions for growing this grape variety.
Domaine Ternynck covers a total of 25 hectares of vineyards, all of which are sustainably farmed. The Ternynck family is committed to preserving the environment and has implemented eco-friendly practices in their vineyards. This includes using natural fertilizers and minimal use of pesticides, as well as using cover crops to promote biodiversity.
The winery produces a range of Muscadet wines, including their flagship wine, the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur Lie. This wine is made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne grapes and is aged on its lees for 6-9 months, giving it a rich and complex flavor profile. Other wines produced by Domaine Ternynck include a Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu and a Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu “Vieilles Vignes,” both of which are aged on lees for a longer period of time, resulting in a more intense and concentrated wine.
