The winery was established in 1981 by Vangelis Gerovassiliou, a trained oenologist who studied at the University of Thessaloniki and then went on to work at the Domaine Porto Carras winery. Ktima Gerovassiliou is most known for their production of the Malagousia grape, a white grape varietal that was nearly extinct until Vangelis Gerovassiliou revived it in the late 1970s. This grape is now considered the signature wine of the region and has received numerous awards and accolades for its exceptional quality and distinctive characteristics.
