Pommery is a renowned Champagne house that has been producing some of the world's most prestigious sparkling wines for over 170 years. Located in the heart of the Champagne region in France, Pommery is known for its exceptional quality and dedication to traditional winemaking methods.
The history of Pommery dates back to 1836 when Louise Pommery inherited the house from her husband. She transformed the small family business into a major Champagne house, expanding its production and establishing its reputation as one of the leading producers in the region.
Pommery is located in the town of Reims, which is considered the capital of the Champagne region. Reims is known for its chalky soil, which is ideal for growing the three main grape varieties used in Champagne production: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. The unique terroir of Reims, combined with Pommery's meticulous winemaking techniques, results in exceptional sparkling wines that are loved and recognized all over the world.
One of the most distinctive features of Pommery is its vast underground cellars, which cover over 18 kilometers and hold millions of bottles of aging Champagne. These cellars were originally carved out of the chalky soil in the 19th century and have been used to store and age Pommery's wines ever since. The cool and damp conditions of the cellars provide the perfect environment for the secondary fermentation process, which gives Champagne its signature effervescence.
Pommery produces a wide range of Champagnes, including the prestigious Cuvée Louise, named after the founder of the house. This flagship wine is made from a blend of the finest grapes from Pommery's vineyards and is only produced in exceptional vintages. Other notable wines from Pommery include the Brut Royal, a fresh and elegant blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, and the Blanc de Blanc
